What is an end user?

An end user is the person who uses your software in the real world. While developers build it and testers verify it, end users actually rely on your application to get their work done or manage their daily lives.

Do you have any examples of end users?

Who the end use is depends on the software.

In a banking app, end users are customers checking balances and paying bills. In hospital software, they're the doctors and nurses updating patient records. In an email client, they're the office workers sending messages all day.

Why is an end user important?

End users determine if your software succeeds or fails. Their experience directly impacts adoption, retention, and word-of-mouth growth. Understanding their needs, workflows, and pain points is crucial for creating software they'll actually want to use.

What are the challenges with end users?

End users bring diverse technical skills, expectations, and use cases that can surprise your team. Some may struggle with interfaces that developers find intuitive, while others might use features in unexpected ways. Testing with real users early and often helps catch these issues before release.
